A Postscript to “Under Pressure”

I returned to the same convenience store today. My husband is having trouble eating. Medication makes food unappetizing, but breakfast sandwiches still satisfy.

I ordered on the computer and went to pay. As I was fishing through my purse for my loyalty card, I remarked to the cashier, “It’s very quiet here today. ย Last Sunday it was crazytown!”

Then she said, “You were the one who talked with my coworker and me last week. ย You were the one who understood.”

“Yes, that was me.”

It was nice that what I said last week made a difference. ย After a week’s worth of customers, I was touched that she remembered me.

May I be mindful of what others are experiencing and always be “the one who understood.”
